Coach and Mentor

I worked under Tai’s leadership at an international school in China for the past three years. Tai has been instrumental in guiding and mentoring my entrance into the education industry. She served as both my mentor teacher and supervisor during my first year as a teacher candidate for elementary education.

During this time, she generously and regularly provided advice, insights and suggestions to guide me in this process. Even while she had considerable responsibilities of her own, she was always available and never failed to provide me with time to share my questions and concerns. She also sought to listen and understand my reflections before she provided her professional advice.

Her vast experience in education was evident as I found she provided advice that was meaningful, relevant and well thought out for the students I was working with. I appreciated her deep love and concern for the students and for me as a new teacher.

Tai was always very encouraging and sought to build me up with the things I was doing well, while not shying away from sharing ways I could do better, always in a professional manner. I believe I have grown so much as a first year teacher because of her steadfast, honest and generous guidance and am very grateful for having her mentor me during this time.
